Nissan Datsun Go+ MPV unveiled!

Datsun has introduced a second car, an MPV developed for Indonesia, called the Datsun GO+

Two months after Datsun unveiled its comeback car, Go, in India, the company today took the wraps off its second car – a 7-seater MPV called the Go+ in Indonesia.

The MPV is based on the same platform as the hatchback – something clearly denoted by the car’s name and the identical styling, engine and power ratings. It also shares the same 2450mm wheelbase as the hatchback and the extra 210mm length is the only key differentiating factor. The length is still under the 4-metre mark that will entitle it to excise benefits when it launches here. In Indonesia, Datsun has said that the Go+ will be priced under 100 million Indonesian rupiah, which amounts to roughly INR 5.50 lakh. also viewvolkswagen-crosspolo

Inside, too, the styling remains true to the hatchback with features like bench seats up front, dashboard-mounted gearshift lever and the Datsun Mobile Docking Station for smartphone integration. The crucial difference, of course, is an additional third row that will seat two. Those looking for additional cargo space at the rear may also have the option to remove the third row seats.new-skoda-octavia-with-10-changes-must see

The Go+ will be produced at the Nissan Motor plant in Purwakarta in Indonesia and go on sale in 2014. It will eventually come to India and battle against the likes of Ford Eco-sport  and the upcoming Brio-based MPV from Honda.

KTM 1290 Super Duke R to be unveiled on September 29

KTM has created a dedicated website of the 1290 Super Duke R according to which the bike will be unveiled on September 29 and will most likely be launched at the 2013 EICMA show in Milan starting November 5
KTM enthusiasts who have been eagerly waiting for the unveiling of the 1290 Super Duke R rejoice! The Austrian manufacturer is all set to unveil the bike on September 29 and has started a dedicated website with countdown timer reflecting the time left for the unveiling. Though the unveiling is on September 29, the 1290 Super Duke R's global launch will likely be at the 2013 EICMA show in Milan, Italy, starting November 5.

As part of its pre-launch marketing campaign, KTM has also released a teaser video of the bike in action. But it is no secret how the new offering would look like since pictures of the 1290 Super Duke R were leaked in July itself. The images were posted by an employee of the Kiska Design agency; the firm responsible for designing it on his blog during a special pre-launch preview to KTM American dealers.
Visually there is hardly any difference between the production version and the concept shown at the 2012 EICMA Motor Show, which is a good thing. The major differences are the headlamps and the exhaust. The funky headlamp design is a love or hate it affair though personally I like them. The chunky looking exhaust pipe has been retained from the one seen on the test mules and is in sync with the aggressive design language of the machine.also view his younger sibling KTM Duke 390
Overall the design of the bike is very sharp and edgy which works in KTM’s favour. It would be interesting to see whether KTM would retain the same design on the production model after the images were leaked. No details are available on the mechanical front but it is been speculated that the bike would be powered by the RC8-sourced V-twin which has been bored to 1195cc and would pump out close to 190-200PS of power.
If this is true, then the 1290 Super Duke R would be one of the most powerful production naked bikes on sale and one fire breathing beast to tame. The Austrian bike manufacturer has provided all the necessary electronic nanny to help the rider from being bitten by the brute like ABS, traction control, stoppie and wheelie protection. But if you like being a hooligan and do some stunts, well no worries as you can disengage stoppie and wheelie protection on your will.also viewKawasaki Ninja ZX-10R And 14R
It is doubtful whether KTM would bring the 1290 Super Duke R to our shores but if they would, be ready to shell out a hefty premium, since the bike would be brought in via the CBU (completely built unit) route.

Hennessy tunes the McLaren MP4-12C; 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds!

Yesterday we spoke about the Germans tuning what are generally considered fast cars and making them even faster. Today it seems that the Americans, courtesy of Henessey performance vehicles, have come back with a bang by tuning the Mclaren MP4-12C. This is the first vehicle under their HPE700 tuning programme and it seems like the results are just too good to be true.
The interiors and exteriors are mostly stock save for the Hennessy badges and HPE700 badges, afterall the British sense of style and design is something that remains pretty good when it leaves the factory itself. Where Hennessy has done its magic are the underpinnings. They have installed a modified ECU upgraded intercooler, dual air induction filters and a stainless steel exhaust system.

Thanks to these changes the 3.8-litre V8 now produces 705PS and 538Nm of torque and increase of 90PS and 130Nm over the standard car. It now does 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds! And will go on to complete a quarter mile in 10.3 seconds at a top speed of 220kmph.

None of these numbers seem relevant when you consider the scale of their upgrades on what is already a fast and powerful car. To give us an idea why someone would modify a car like the MP4-12C, we must remember that Hennessy are the people behind the Venom GT which holds a Guinness World Record for the fastest Hypercar in the world. On January 10th it did 0-300kmph in 13.63 seconds.

Kawasaki launches Ninja ZX-10R and 14R superbikes

Kawasaki became the latest manufacturer to enter the performance segment as it unleashed the Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R superbikes at Rs 15.7 lakh and 16.9 lakh respectively

After making its fans wait for many a years,Kawasaki India  Motor finally took a plunge in the performance segment as it launched its Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R superbikes. But unlike the CKD (completely knocked down units) route it took for its other international offerings like the Ninja 300 and the 650R, would be taking the CBU (completely built unit) path for the Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-14R.

According to the Japanese manufacturer they chose the CBU route as it doesn’t make much sense to set up CKD operations for these motorcycles given the low volume of sales they would generate. Owing to this reason, the Ninja ZX-10R has been priced at 15.7 lakh whereas the ZX-14R would retail for Rs 16.9 lakh both prices are ex-showroom Pune.

If you remember, about three years ago, Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries founded the India Kawasaki Motors Pvt. Ltd. (IKM), the Indian subsidiary for their motorcycle business. Over the years the Japanese company with partners Bajaj Auto have launched some amazing piece of machinery in our country in the shape of the Ninja 250R, 650R and more recently the Ninja 300, which are sold from the latter’s Pro-Biking showrooms.
But the twist in the story is that now IKM is setting up individual showrooms in key motorcycle markets of our country, beginning from our very own Pune. The work at the Pune dealership is in full swing and would commence operations soon, to cash on the festive season. The first two models to be offered from the Kawasaki showroom would be the landmark model Ninja ZX-14R and the popular litre-class Ninja ZX-10R brought in as CBU (Completely Built Up) units.harley-davidson
Many enthusiasts from the Indian motorcycle fraternity have been waiting with bated breath for the ZX-14R. Powered by a 1441-cc motor capable of over 200 PS, this large and comfortable supersport comes equipped with Kawasaki ‘s acclaimed ram-air system that has a unique design to channelise air towards the engine. The company’s website claims it to be ‘the world’s fastest and most powerful production bike’. Need we say more?

BMW i8 images leaked

BMW’s foray into hybrid technology is one that has been proposed for a number of years now, but has only taken its shape via one-off prototypes. But 2013 looks like the year when the research has finally taken physical shape. The company first launched the BMW i3 a couple of months back and now looks all set to unveil its elder sibling, the i8 sedan.

The i8’s entry into the world is taking a similar route of the i3, with the car’s official images ‘leaking’ a few days prior to its official launch. BMW has also revealed an official video illuminating just enough of the car to invoke attention. But if the i3 styling is anything to go by, the i8 will definite sweep us off our feet.B,M.W Z-4 Amazing Thriller
Similar to the i3, the i8 too uses a plug-in hybrid system with a three- cylinder petrol engine driving the rear axle and an electric motor powering the front. The combined output of the power plant is 367PS power and 569Nm of torque both of which aid the car to accelerate to 100kph from standstill in under 4.5 seconds while returning 40kmpl.  Despite the hybrid system, the car weighs around 1490kg thanks to its lightweight aluminium architecture.
BMW is on a roll to impress the environmentalist while still keeping the enthusiast happy, and the figures revealed from Bavaria speaks exactly of that. Who said hybrids are boring?

Harley Davidson developing low cost motorcycle for India

Few weeks ago, two un-camouflaged V-Twin cruisers were spied testing on the roads of Faridabad in Haryana. The news of low cost motorcycle from Harley Davidson, few design cues from its other line of products and it having a CKD plant in Haryana has made us believe that test vehicles are the new low cost models from Harley Davidson. A report from Motorbeam now confirms that the test motorcycles are indeed a low cost motorcycle from the American manufacturer that are being tested.
he upcoming motorcycle is likely to get a new 500cc V-Twin engine that is rumoured to churn out 45bhp and 50Nm. This low cost Harley Davidson is being developed under a new platform called –G platform that will become the base design for future low cost models which are targeted to emerging markets like India.

It is likely the company will rely on local manufacturing to keep the price very competitive which might be possible as there is still time for this motorcycle to hit Indian roads as its currently in early stage of development. We expect the motorcycle to hit the market in next 2 years.
One of the reason we feel Harley Davidson will take their time to develop this motorcycle is because for the first time, they are developing a low cost and low displacement (883cc being the smallest one) motorcycle. They are known for developing some really nice big displacement cruisers, so ‘not very developed’ low cost motorcycle might give them bad PR which obviously no manufacturer would like to have.
Currently the company sells most of its motorcycles in India through completely-knocked-down (CKD) route. The cheapest Harley-Davidson you can buy in India is the Superlow for Rs 5.71 lakh. We can expect the upcoming low cost Harley to be sold in India somewhere between Rs 4.5 and Rs 5 lakh and might be called as ‘ReallyLow’

‘Bolt Gold’ Nissan GT-R delivered to its owner

In the car world, the Nissan GT-R is probably the best incarnation of the fast man on earth, Usain Bolt and to solidify this lineage, Nissan had earlier joined hands with Bolt to develop a unique GT-R. The car painted in ‘Bolt Gold’ to celebrate his 2012 Olympic triumph was auctioned earlier as a concept and Nissan has finally delivered the exhibit to its owner in Australia.
The car in context is a replica of the one owned by Bolt himself, and features a pair of unique titanium shaded alloy wheels hand-picked by the athlete along with the paint scheme. While the one owned by Bolt is a 2013 edition of the GT-R, the auctioned piece is a 2014 example and is pegged to a 553PS/627Nm, 3.6-litre twin turbo V6 engine.
In addition to its bright paint finish, the one-off GT-R features a number of gold elements in the cabin that include a special plaque embossed with Usain Bolt’s signature embossed onto it. The auctioned amount of USD 1,87,100 (Rs 1.25 crore) will be donated he athlete’s charitable foundation in his native Jamaica.

Beyond its uniqueness and the glaring paint job, the initiative is believed to be aimed at a noble cause, one that we feel a number of other celebrities and their endorsements can learn from.

Honda Launched CBR250R in Indian market to Hit KTM Duke390. Dose it Stands Againts KTM Duke390??

Honda has fired a swift response to the KTM 390 Duke, launched just two days ago, by introducing the 2013 edition of CBR 250R bike. The updates, though, are merely cosmetic and the new CBR250R is now available in 4 new colours – Sports Red, Black, Pearl Sunbeam White and the hottest and priciest of the lot – the iconic Repsol racing livery that also adorns the RC213V MotoGP bike.
Honda CBR250R Repsol colours

Honda has cleverly kept the Repsol edition a limited one, putting it on sale only till October 2013 and that too in C-ABS variant. C-ABS, for the uninitiated, stands for Combined Anti-lock Braking System which essentially adds more bite to the bike’s braking capabilities. Other standout features on the new CBR250R include blacked-out alloys and exhaust heat shield. The Repsol edition, however, gets orange alloys. As aforementioned, there are no changes to the mechanicals and the CBR250R will continue to be powered by the same reliable 250cc, 26PS mill as on the outgoing model.

New Honda CBR250R Pearl Sunbeam White colour

The new bikes will be available across all Honda dealerships by the end of the month and as per prices below. The question that comes to mind now is whether the changes to the CBR250R are enough to combat the KTM 390 Duke, which is all new, offers better performance, and comes with a whole lot of customisation options aside from being cheaper as well at Rs 1.80 lakh?

Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG price and review in India

During our stint at the AMG driving academy, the E63 AMG was called “the soft one”. We were told, with a slight smile, that the customers for the E63 were “gentlemen of an older persuasion”. Which makes you believe that the new all-wheel drive system fitted to the upcoming E63 AMG is something made to please that target group. AMG fans might see this as the death of the German muscle car – of all the AMGs, only the C63 will remain rear-drive only once the current generation updates go on sale.
Don’t let that fool you, though. The head of vehicle development at AMG, Tobias Moers, has said that he will make an AWD AMG only if it was done right. So the 4MATIC system in the E63 turns a blind eye to the traditional 45:55 torque split of the regular 4MATIC cars for a more sporty 70:30 in favour of the rear. What this means is more grip, but less hooliganism – which is what defined AMGs to most petrolheads seeking a four-door rocket.
Price In Delhi Ex Show room - About 1.29 Crores

The four-wheel drive doesn’t add as much weight as a Quattro system, and neither does it rob the E of steering feel, so all might not be lost. It still retains its guttural bark on startup and the menacing roar that makes other cars get out of the way. It’s just that there aren’t any tyre-melting powerslides to go along with it any more.
We aren’t sure if India will get the rear-drive only model or the 4MATIC – the former will be slightly cheaper to purchase and easy to maintain, while the second will be far more useful on our less-than-perfect roads. There are also two variants to choose from: the “AMG Performance Pack” is now the S Model, with an extra 1.5psi of turbocharger boost taking power from the standard car’s 550PS and 720Nm to 590PS and 800Nm. Those latter figures make it the king of the spec sheet in the performance saloon territory.
Of course, the interior will be as luxuriously appointed as before, and of course, India will not get the estate version – but for those gentlemen of an older persuasion looking at the E63, there’s one thing you need to know: the S Model 4MATIC gets to 100kmph 0.2 seconds quicker than another AMG: the SLS.
There’s just two more words to say to those still not convinced: Black Series.

Next generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the pipeline

Porsche 911 GT3 RS, named after the GT3 European Championship is set for its next iteration by 2014. The news follows the official unveil of the GT3 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show as Porsche plans to expand its 911 series.
The new GT3 RS will most definitely live up to the expectations of the RS badge and will be a track focused model like its predecessor. Reports claim that the car may be powered by an inline flat six-cylinder 4.0-litre engine or a retuned version of the 3.8-litre found under the hood of the new GT3. The performance figures are expected to be in the range of 500PS with the dual-clutch PDK gearbox as standard.
The new 911 GT3 RS is expected to be even wider than the 911 GT3 and will inherit design cues from the 2013 911 Turbo. The four-wheel steer from the GT3 and the Turbo S is also expected to feature in the new RS along with a track tuned suspension, electronic rear differential and titanium exhausts. Extensive use of carbon fibre including an adjustable rear wing will help improve the Nürburgring lap time of the RS to less than 7 minutes 25 seconds.
RS badged Porsche’s have been a favourite among enthusiasts with the likes of Jenson Button and Patrick Dempsey owning them. It is the most track-focused production car from the Porsche line up and is not meant for the faint hearted. Stay tuned for more updates on the car which are expected to surface closer to the year end.

BMW may increase price by AUG 15

BMW is likely to increase prices of all models across the line up including the cars under the Mini brand. The price hike is expected to come into effect from August 15 and is expected to be around five per cent.
The hike is most likely due to the depreciating value of the Rupee and the impact that it has had on the economy. The most obvious reason is that BMW much like its ‘Big German three’ counterparts Audi and Mercedes-Benz imports its parts and this is hurting its profit as well as cost margins.
The hike is not one of surprise, as the measure has already been taken by mass market manufacturers like General Motors and Mahindra who manufacture their cars locally. Maruti on the other hand had earlier opted to outsource some of its parts production to local manufacturers but is also likely to up their prices in the near future.
Other manufacturers are expected to follow, but the current lethargic market makes the decision a dicey one for the manufacturers who are currently have their work cut out in terms of meeting their targets.
The approaching festive season is hoped to improve the current state and manufacturers are eyeing the period to introduce new and improved models in an effort to tap the possible bloom in the market.

Lamborghini Gallardo series LP 570-4 Super Trofeo single-series race car

Lamborghini has announced another edition to its Gallardo series with a road legal version of the LP 570-4 Super Trofeo single-series race car. Dubbed the LP 570-4 Squadra Corse, the baby Lamborghini mimics its sinful race car sibling quite brilliantly. Set to debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, the Squadro Corse is named after the new motorsports department at Lamborghini Automobili.
Based on the Gallardo Superleggera, the Squadra Corse inherits the 578PS-V10 engine from the race car along with the carbon fibre rear wing. This addition generates nearly three times the down produced on the standard Gallardo, enough to replace a pile driver.
The inside gets an array of carbon fibre inputs on the door panels, the centre console, the handbrake frame and lower section of the steering wheel. The health conscious Squadra Corse has also opted for carbon-fibre bucket seats and Alcantara inserts in an effort to stay fit and as a result weighs nearly 70kg lighter than the standard car.

The performance figures of this baby faced assassin may make the standard Gallardo look rather subdued. The 0-100km drag clocks at 3.4 seconds while the run to 200kph is completed in 10.4 seconds. The car comes to a standstill courtesy of the bright red carbon-ceramic disk brakes.
Road legal twins of race bred supercars have always fascinated us, and when it bears a raging bull badge from Italy things only get better.  One word of advice though for anyone who intends to own this monster, please fasten your seatbelts, the ride might just rip you apart!

BMW Z-4

The Demon Is Transported into BMW Z-6

A classic - redesigned.

The exterior of the BMW Z4 Roadster.

A roadster designed the way only BMW can: the classic proportions of the stretched bonnet and short overhangs are complimented by the low seats near to the rear axle to grant the driver a perfect feel for the road. The modern shape, an interplay of striking contours and soft mergers, fully captures the character of this vehicle from its characteristic kidney grille to the powerful wheelarches at the rear. However, it's the way this roadster effortlessly negotiates straights and bends that makes it truly like no other.

The wind is on your side.

Aerodynamics on the BMW Z4 Roadster.

The two-part hardtop makes it possible to combine a unique roadster experience with outstanding aerodynamics. A comprehensive and sophisticated concept that takes even the smallest detail into account and ensures that all components, from the air intake valves to the boot door, work in harmony to reduce air resistance and thus fuel consumption - especially at high speeds. Make the wind work for you and not against you.

A good feeling.

The interior of the BMW Z4 Roadster.

A perfect fit that leaves plenty of room for exploration. Like a well-tailored suit, the BMW Z4 Roadster is expertly customised to meet the needs of the driver. From the asymmetrical centre console to the optimally positioned instruments and round control elements that echo the legendary BMW Z8, a journey inside this vehicle offers a new discovery in elegance every time. Even with the roof closed, the overwhelming feeling of freedom remains and the bond between the driver, the vehicle and the road is as close as ever.

Volkswagen CrossPolo

Crafted for the off-roading enthusiasts, based on the incredible Polo hatchback and belonging to the celebrated clan of cars from Germany, Volkswagen, that is known for the superb quality that reflects off each and every niche of its member rides, it is the fascinating Volkswagen CrossPolo that is, most probably, going to be out on the Indian roads (and on every other possible terrain in the country) by the time the final quarter of 2013 sets in. Strong and sturdy, not just in looks, but also in build, the soon-to-arrive Polo-inspired crossover will be flaunting an exceedingly sporty set of 17-inch alloy wheels, housed in large wheel arches that will be outlined with black plastic moulded extensions just like the bumpers and the side sills. Accentuating the sporty and aggressive nature of the five-door ride will be a pair of silver-coated roof-rails that can be used to tie up about 75kg of luggage on the car's roof, the tough plastic guards that protect the car's body from accidental damage, the 215/40 tyres that surround the 5-spoke alloys and the increment of 15mm in the overall height of the vehicle in comparison to the current model of Polo that adds more character to its off-roader persona.

The rear end of CrossPolo, too, boasts of an all-terrain personality, featuring a black plastic-bordered bumper that blends excellently with the overall theme, a silver-stroked diffuser in the centre and, if rumours are to be believed, even an old-school-SUV-characteristic spare wheel mounted on the tail gate, in which case the spare wheel socket present under the rear-end floor could be utilized for accommodating a CNG tank (that is, if the speculations about the possible CNG option turn out to be true). Speaking of rear end, the trunk space that Volkswagen CrossPolo supplies is a good amount of 280 litres, which can be enhanced to a staggering 952 litres by folding away the 60:40 configured second row of seats. To keep the luggage secure in that voluminous boot, Volkswagen provides four tie-down eyes to buckle the baggages up along with two side-mounted hooks to keep them in their position. That was about the arrangements made available after the luggage enters the car. For putting it all up in the trunk with complete ease, the car provides a dual cargo floor that can be adjusted to two different heights to create a convenient loading plane. In short, the German manufacturer has taken every effort to make this unique hatch not only strong enough to handle the roughest of terrains but also to be of absolute comfort and convenience to the occupants seated in the cabin. Talking about the power-houses that are likely to show up under the hood of the CrossPolo, this upcoming hatchback will, most probably, be coming out in both petrol and diesel options. While the petrol variants are expected to be powered by the same 1.2-litre mill that is soon going to be seen in the Polo line-up also, the oil-burners are the ones that are being anticipated to be the first ones to receive the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine of the company in India. Loaded with all these tools, technologies and gadgetries, Volkswagen CrossPolo will be competing against one of the most successful cars of 2012, Renault Duster.

Volkswagen CrossPolo ExteriorsVolkswagen CrossPolo Mileage

Volkswagen CrossPolo TachoMeterThis Volkswagen CrossPolo crossover is expected to come with performance-packed petrol and diesel drive trains. The power packed petrol mill is said to deliver appropriate power and torque outputs and will be equipped with a TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) fuel supply system, which will further enhance the fuel efficiency of this crossover. There are reports that this 1.2-litre petrol engine is capable of returning a healthy mileage of 18.1kmpl, which is rather impressive for the Indian road conditions. The diesel trims are expected to house a 1.5-litre diesel mill, however, no specific details have been provided so far for this engine.
The exteriors of this superb Volkswagen CrossPolo have been given an elegant design along with some very exciting and arresting features. The company designers have put in a lot of effort, which shows in the silhouette of this sleek crossover. The front fascia of this Volkswagen CrossPolo has a compactly designed radiator grille, sporting a thick horizontal slat, finished in chrome. There is also a prominent VW badge embedded in the centre of this grille. This radiator grille is flanked by a bright and radiant headlight cluster that comes integrated with high intensity halogen lamps. This headlight cluster is also said to be equipped with standard day time running lights, which add to the urbane styling of this Volkswagen CrossPolo crossover. Below this entire setting lies the body-coloured front bumper that has been neatly designed and features a wide, honey comb styled, perforated, black matte coloured air dam, which helps in cooling the engine faster. On either side of this air dam is a radiant round-shaped fog lamp to further enhance the visibility of the driver in the dark. The front wind screen is made up of toughened laminated glass and gets a pair of efficient intermittent wipers attached that also carry a wash function with them. Coming to the side profile, it has been done in a smooth and lustrous manner, and has been given a gorgeous black matte paint job that imparts a completely different and distinct look to this crossover. This protective cladding spans the whole of the vehicle's body on the lower half including the door side sills, wheel arches and the front and rear bumpers. This beautiful coat is giving this Volkswagen CrossPolo crossover a formidable and aggressive feel all over. The pronounced and astutely carved out wheel arches are expected to be fitted with a set of modish 17-inch light alloy wheels, sporting a classy five-spoke design and being called as 'Budapest'. These stylish alloy rims are covered with superior quality tubeless radial tyres of size 215/14 R17, which facilitate a better road grip on every terrain. Volkswagen CrossPolo also gets a scruff plate that is done up in a dull silver finish to add to the looks of this crossover. The other distinctive feature is the set of silver anodized roof rails on the top, which are making this crossover look sporty. These roof rails are not there just for decorative purposes but can also take on luggage of up to 75kgs and come as an added benefit to the buyers. The roof of this car also gets an antenna mounted for better reception of FM Radio, thereby, enhancing the in-cabin quotient for the passengers.
